Payroll FAQs
What are payroll source deductions?
When employees get paid, a portion of their pay are deducted and sent to CRA. These deductions are for Employment insurance (EI), Canada Pension Plan (CPP), and income taxes. The employers also pay their portion of EI and CPP for each employee. These deductions, typically for one month, are due on the 15th of the following month. This is called source deduction payments.
